Leading global cattle-breeding company, World Wide Sires Ltd, continues to assert massive international influence following publication of the recent (April 2008) evaluation-run. The company’s renowned proven stud has been further strengthened with outstanding results being achieved in the UK, Canada and US.
Several of the company’s headliner bulls have increased their UK values as a result of additional information entering the latest evaluations according to World Wide Sires’ UK Sales Manager John Cochrane. “Fifteen sires from our elite 24 bull stud have seen increases on their respective Holstein UK Type Merit scores and 11 sires have increased their UK PLI values.
“World Wide Sires UK now has seven of the top 30 bulls listed on the Top Available UK Bull listings based upon Holstein UK Type Merit ratings. Furthermore, Regancrest Mr Sam continues to build on his immense reputation as being one of the world’s greatest breeding sires. The bull currently has 43 Holstein UK scored daughters averaging 100% Good Plus and Better.
“Eleven of the top 30 listed bulls on US TPI are owned by World Wide Sires and the company’s influence in Canada is also further strengthened. Three of the top four Canadian-proven Conformation sires have graduated through our testing programme. World Wide Sires now owns seven of the top 21 Canadian type transmitters as well as, the two bulls listed in pole-position on Canadian LPI and Milk Production,” he said.
Plain-O Durham Ross increased his Holstein UK Type Merit (UK TM) ratings to +2.94 and offers +2.65 Udder score, +3.92 Udder support and +2.06 on Legs and Feet. This Durham son is bred from four generations of Excellent scored dams and increased his UK PLI ratings by 11 points to offer increased values of +£129. Durham Ross is Canadian-proven and offers +16 Conformation score; +14 Mammary System, +19 Median Suspensory and +17 Udder Texture. The bull is currently listed in joint third position on Canadian LPI Conformation listings based upon 84 scored daughters averaging 68% Good Plus and Better.
Former Holstein UK number one type sire,
New World Empire, maintains impressive UK TM ratings of +2.93; +2.52 Udder score and +2.58 on Legs and Feet. This son of Emory is bred from the world’s most respected cow, Snow-N Denises Dellia EX95 and offers PLI increases of +£75. Empire is now dead and only a few remaining units are currently available within the UK.
Regancrest Mr Sam is already established as one of the greatest sires of his generation and his influence is further strengthened with the addition of daughter records in Germany, Italy, USA, UK and Canada. The bull now has an established five country, 947 daughter evaluation based on results in 564 herds. The bull offers Holstein UK MACE TM ratings of +2.89; +2.48 Udder score, +2.47 Legs and Feet traits and a PLI of +£113.
Mr Sam currently has 43 Holstein UK classified daughters averaging 100% Good Plus and Better. The bull transmits incredible levels of consistency and offers an impressive 45% Very Good UK scored daughter ratio. This Durham x Emory mating has also emerged with a Canadian-proof offering +14 Conformation score; +12 Mammary and +12 on Dairy Strength. The bull is bred from five consecutive generations of Excellent scored dams and currently has 232 Canadian scored daughters averaging 81% Good Plus and Better.
Stable-mate
Regancrest Design continues to impress with further UK production increases on milk, fat, protein, PLI as well as, type traits. The bull is descended from the world famous Dellia family and is an outcross sire to most bloodlines being an Eland x Encore mating. Design increased his Holstein UK Type Merit ratings to new figures of +2.78 and offers +2.70 Mammary, +1.89 Legs and Feet, +3.07 Udder support and a PLI of £134. The bull also impresses by offering Rump width increases of +2.66.
Design is another sire proven by World Wide Sires in Canada and the bull offers impressive all round improvements on production and type. This Eland son has 134 scored first-crop daughters averaging 74% Good Plus and Better. Design offers +14 Conformation score, +13 Mammary System, +15 Median Suspensory, +11 Udder Texture, +10 Feet and Legs and +11 Rump score. Design also increases his UK MACE production ratings to offer new figures of +393kgs Milk, + 22.3kgs Fat (+0.09%) +8.4kgs Protein (-0.05%) and a PLI of +£134.
UK proven
Ocean-View Zenith adds 66 production records to his impressive first-crop proof. The bull was extensively tested within the UK as an unproven sire and now has an immense 817 first-crop production daughter proof offering increases of +328kgs Milk, +19.7kgs Fat (+0.09%)+ 14kgs Protein (+0.04%) Zenith is a Durham son and his dam is one of the world’s most respected cows, Ocean-View Mandel Zandra Ex95. The bull impresses on type ratings by offering Holstein UK TM increases of +2.23, +1.97 Udder traits and also offers a PLI of +£165.
